NEW DIRECTOR FOR INVESTCHILE

In June, President Bachelet appointed Carlos Álvarez Voullième as new director of Investchile, the Chilean agency dedicated to attract foreign investment.

Carlos Álvarez, an Industrial Civil Engineer with a Master’s degree in Economics from the University of Chile and a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Harvard University, has worked in relevant functions in the Public Sector, among other as Executive Vice-President of Corfo.

Investchile (former Comité de Inversiones Extranjeras) has been launched in May, responding to new institutional objectives and areas of work. Among other, InvestChile will be much more actively dedicated to attract foreign investment, as this is considered a key factor for Chile’s economic development and competitiveness, with specific areas of interest, e.g. healthy foods and quality products and services, among other in mining.
